With its retro-futuristic synths, breathy vocals and dancefloor-friendly beats, the glittery electronica of Gwenno Saunders might seem all sunshine and starships. But behind it all is a deceptively clever singer-songwriter and the Welsh siren’s songs are as gently subversive as they are catchy.

A former singer with The Pipettes, Gwenno’s 2014 solo debut album Y Dydd Olaf immediately caught the ear of critics and keen-eared audiences alike, putting her at the leading edge of a new wave of Welsh electro-pop.
